One cannot escape the recent barrage of television and radio ads soliciting potential plaintiffs to file suit against various companies alleging cancer caused by the use of consumer and industrial talc products. The media saturation of these ads is due to recent multi-million dollar verdicts that have been handed down outside of Rhode Island. However, there are currently talc cases pending in Rhode Island, and as this litigation develops, these cases may very well have an impact on the litigation nationwide.
This presentation will provide an overview of the science, medicine, and regulatory history underlying talc litigation. The panelists will break down recent talc verdicts nationally and provide both defense and plaintiff perspectives on how to litigate these types of claims.
